Original Artwork Care
Your original artwork is made to be enjoyed. There’s no complicated maintenance required—just treat your artwork with the same care you would any special piece in your home.
Both my acrylic and oil pastel paintings are finished with an archival varnish to help protect the artwork and preserve its beauty over time.
Acrylic FAQs
How do I care for my acrylic painting?
Simply hang it in your home and enjoy it! Acrylic paintings are durable and require very little maintenance.
For the best long-term care, avoid hanging your artwork in prolonged direct sunlight or somewhere with excessive moisture or extreme temperature changes.
Can I hang my painting in a sunny room?
Absolutely. Your painting doesn't need to live in a dark room. Normal indoor light is perfectly fine. Just avoid placing it directly in a sunny window where it would receive strong, prolonged sunlight every day.
Do I need to clean my painting?
Not usually. If your painting collects a little dust over time, gently dust the surface with a clean, soft, dry cloth or feather duster. Avoid household cleaners or spraying anything directly onto the artwork.
Is the painting varnished?
Yes! Every acrylic original is finished with an archival varnish that provides an additional layer of protection for the painted surface.
Oil Pastel FAQs
Is oil pastel difficult to care for?
Not at all! Oil pastel is a softer medium than acrylic, but once your artwork is properly finished and framed, it can be enjoyed just like any other piece of original art.
The most important thing is simply to avoid rubbing or touching the pastel surface.
Does my oil pastel need to be framed?
I recommend framing oil pastel artwork, both to beautifully present the piece and to give the softer pastel surface an added layer of protection.
Can I hang it in a sunny room?
Yes. Normal indoor light is fine, but as with any original artwork, it's best to avoid prolonged, direct sunlight.
Do I need to clean my oil pastel?
Very little! Simply keep the artwork framed and avoid touching the pastel surface. If the framed piece needs dusting, gently clean the outside of the glass or acrylic rather than the artwork itself.
Is the oil pastel varnished?
Yes! Each oil pastel original is finished with an archival varnish to provide additional protection and help preserve the artwork over time.
